FARE THEE WELL-2

Helloooo my dear readers! It seems really that this is my final post for this term. I created this blog when I took the Educational Technologies course. After this class ended, I started to join the Material Design Class in ELT. Both belong to the same teacher, Dr Kurt :)

I really loved her classes so if I have any chance I would join any other classes of hers. I started to pay attention to technology after I met her and took her classes. They added a lot of things to me. In the future, when I become a teacher, I will certainly use technology in my classes. Moreover, I am actually using technology with my little students. They love the materials I've created a lot!

I learned a lot of things from this course such as Corpus use, flipped classroom videos, Augmented Reality, and WebQuest. Each task has its own features and adds to me different perspectives from the technology.

As I learned new things from this course, I also applied them to other classes I joined. In Teaching English Through Literature II Class, we had to prepare a lesson plan so I thought about flipped classroom videos. Then, we decided on creating such a video. Everyone liked this material a lot! I'm looking forward to using these techniques in my teaching career.

Well, as I said before, that's not a real farewell, we will see each other one day. :) Before I end up my speech, I would like to say thank you to my sweet friends Aslı, Emre, and Asude as they were together with me throughout this semester. Especially, I would like to say thank you to my precious teacher Ms Kurt. She is an inspiration to me. Thanks to her, I will be an innovative teacher in the future. And, you, my dear readers I also thank you a lot. You have been with me for almost 10 months! Thanks for being with me! Hope to see you again. Take care of yourselves and stay healthy! Adioossss...

THE LAST TASK: WEBQUEST

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well. Because I am! In this post, I am going to talk about the last task of the Material Design class whose name is WebQuest. We created this with Emre Yunus, and Aslı using the preparatory class coursebook that we used in the previous tasks. In a nutshell, WebQuest is a lesson platform that allows professors to provide online assignments and projects to their students. WebQuest differs from previous methods in that it provides thorough and adequate instructions and information while also incorporating technology.

We selected the project shown below as a screenshot from the coursebook for the task, and we added technology into it. Click here to see how we made it a technology-enhanced WebQuest.

Let’s talk about how we integrated it into technology-enhanced. I started blogging when I took the Educational Technologies course. We took advantage of some activities we learnt in Educational Technologies, integrating them into the Material Design course, as well. In WebQuest, we firstly created a “Creating Poster” activity about a movie the students will choose and we used an infographic to show how to create a poster on PosterMyWall on the WebQuest. After that, we wanted them to write a review about the movie on the Wiki Page on PBworks and we recorded a video showing how to use PBworks. Besides, we gave them 2 sample posters and we showed how students should write their review and provided a sample review on the video.

In the end, except for the website we used, QuestGarden, which was a little bit confusing, nothing was challenging as we are already familiar with what we gave as tasks.

INTEGRATE AUGMENTED REALITY INTO ENGLISH TEACHING

Hi, my dear readers! I'm here with you to talk about "AR". What is Augmented Reality? Augmented reality (AR) is a technologically augmented version of the real world that is created through the use of digital visual elements, music, or other sensory stimulation. In our Material Design in ELT Class, we thought about integrating Augmented Reality into English teaching.

In this task, my friends Emre Yunus, Aslı and I tried to create worksheets integrated into AR technology. We chose Paris, France to introduce to the students. We used both 360 videos and 3D items with QR codes on pages. Moreover, we asked questions about videos and 3D items. Firstly, students watch the videos and 3D items. Then, they read and answer the questions.

We used Augment to create this assignment. It is easy to use. However, it has some disadvantages. For example, it does not work on Android. You have to use IOS to experience it. If I had had any chance, I would have used another app for this task. It should be available for all students because it is inequality.

I had fun with my friends during this task. It adds innovation to teaching. By creating such works, I feel more creative myself. Hence, while trying to do these assignments as a group, we love being connected to each other. That's all for me for today, my dear readers! I wish to see you in another task. Byeee!
